huge red trees....

Miyajima Torii

This magnificent looking thing is actually huge trees painted red plonked in the water as an entrance to the shrine behind it. Low tide sees a flurry of activity in the form of locals collecting shellfish and the occasional deer wandering round looking for tidbits or leftovers. High tide sets the Tori (the tree contraption) in a pool of gently lapping seawater which according to many is a really cool sight, but as yet a sight unseen by yours truely.
So hows this for a halfpie crack? Not bad I reckon! Still gotta figure out all this bold/italic/underlined milarky for my wee iBook so I can add a bit of "flavour" to these posts!!
